Nearpod

Resim
Click the  Nearpod  and create an account. There are options for you to load different versions of materials. You can load slides and pdf files. After that, you can create a quiz and open-ended questions. In addition to this, it helps you to do fill in the blanks and matching questions. This tool is useful especially if you are planned because everything is in the same file and in sequences. In my opinion, Nearpod is really useful when you are teaching online. It will facilitate your teaching and synchronization with the student. If you do live lesson, it will give you a Code like this. Students enter the code and join your live lesson. The teacher controls the slides ıf you make it as a live lesson. Here is my Nearpod if you want to check it:  https://share.nearpod.com/9W8qTv36EW

Thinglink

Resim
Thinkglink is an amazing tool for education. I just love it!! I believe that this really motivates students to learn. after I finish my Thinglink I asked my friends what they think and they said: we love it. We wish that we have them in our English classes. It is super easy to create. You can add whatever you want through a link or you can load from your computer. It is also possible to add video from youtube. These days I am thinking about bringing cultural differences into class. this is a great opportunity for me to try. I want to compare Americans' independence day celebration and ours. In this way, I both encourage them to speak and raise their awareness. Here is my link to Thinkling:   https://www.thinglink.com/scene/1183401798531022850

Video Gaming in English Learning

Resim
Video gaming in English Learning         Video gaming has a huge impact on language learning.   Players can also learn new vocabulary items while they are having fun. This must be considered in teaching English. If we can combine English teaching with game and fun, what would we wish more? Video gaming can be played multiplayer. That is, they are cooperative games which players can learn English through context, play and social interactions. It promotes communicative competence. In this framework, we can say that video gaming helps to teach in a constructivist approach. Learning language means moving language out of the class as well. Students need to practice what they have learned in the class outside. Video gaming provides this option. In order to improve speaking, we need to create stress-free environments for students. Games lower the affective filter and encourage them to use the language spontaneously. In this sense, games are motivating...

Quizlet

Resim
Here I am with Quizlet . this is amazing for especially beginners. An enjoyable way to practice new words. Quizlet helps you create your own flashcards. It is really easy to create these flashcards. When you write the Turkish version of the word right column, on the left column it gives you its English equivalence of the word. You can add pictures of the words as well. there is a chance to hear the pronunciations of the words.  For intermediate levels, you can write sentences or explain the meaning in English as well. I am planning to use this flashcard into my Turkish class. after I use I will edit my page with reviews of my students. Edit: they loved it. my lesson went really well with this and I believe that they capture meanings quickly. I highly recommend this. Here are my flashcards: https://quizlet.com/_6m6ny4 here is a picture from matching game:

Pixton

Resim
Hello! This is my avatar from Pixton . With Pixton you can create your own comics and use it as a tool. When I first sign up, I create my avatar which is on the left column. When I search how to use Pixton on youtube, I find Pixton really useful. However, when I tried to apply what I had learnt, I saw that it allowed only restricted options. I had 4 options for background and only 1 option for the avatars. rest of them were locked. It really restricts me. Here is what I do: I am planning to use this as an icebreaker for the beginning of the class. I will as them " Do you also think in this way during the finals?" and then I will ask "How does this avatar feel?" In this way, I am planning to make them familiarise with emotional words.

Virtual Reality Headset Trial

Resim
Virtual Reality(VR) is divided into two types. one of them is connected to a computer screen, you have an avatar. for the other one, you need to google to access. VR motivate young learners, that's why we should integrate them into our classroom environments. There are a lot of options for these goggles from cheap to expensive ones. Even you let your students create one for themselves. But still, if your class is crowded then you can do "istasyon çalışması" with your students. Separate them into groups and chose one to wear goggle. after that, the students will report their experiences to other members of his group. by doing this you also make them dictation work. There is one negative aspect of using goggles in education is people like me who wear glasses. ıt is hard to wear the goggle on to my glasses. If I take it off, then I see blurry. However; again with " istasyon çalışması", we can eliminate alienation.

Click Storybird . Sign in and click the writing section. Then start to write your own stories. How can we use this tool for education? Firstly as a teacher, you can create your own story and teach what you want. These stories might be appropriate for beginners. For instance "Turn to Black" is my first story trial. I can teach what is the narrative voice. ın addition, I can teach the grammar structure " how ... they are". In terms of vocabulary, you can teach colours and revise animals etc,. Secondly, for the upper levels, you want your students to create their own stories. They will have pictures and this will ease their creation. While I was creating my story, actually I had enthusiasm. The process was so joyful and I also learnt new vocabularies as well. I strongly recomm...

Second Life Experience and Education

Resim
Hey, this is my avatar from second life! I came across this virtual reality production thanks to my teacher Tuncer Can. While I was discovering new places, I saw that my avatar was not only running but also flying. This makes more fun to discover new places. In addition to this, you can also go upward. there is life in the vertical dimension. This gives you a real-life feeling. How can we use the second life in an educational context?  We can create simulational classrooms. students can attend classes from wherever they want. This makes our lessons more accessible. students participate in lessons with their avatars. this also lowers their stress and anxiety and create a stress-free environment which is crucial for English lessons.
